The Whisker Lounge
This project turned an existing patio into a fully enclosed, all-season cat paradise—spanning over 17 feet wide and more than 9 feet tall, giving cats room to climb, stretch, and truly roam. Framed with Douglas fir and pressure-treated lumber for durability, then painted in Valspar Western Brown to seamlessly match the home, the enclosure feels like it was always meant to be there. The double-screen system—black PVC-coated welded wire paired with scratch-resistant bug screen—keeps cats safe while maintaining airflow and visibility. Inside, custom shelves, ramps, extra lounging platforms, two cozy cubbies, and two eye-catching bubble domes create vertical enrichment from floor to ceiling. With a full-size human access door and clean interior trim covering all fasteners, this enclosed patio now functions as a spacious, light-filled retreat where cats can sunbathe, bird-watch, and rule their backyard domain in total safety.
