It is a cat’s instinct to climb. Most cats adore to be up high, whether they are dangling from tree’s branches or just hanging from a high perch. The Catio can be a place that mimics nature with built in shelving, perches or tunnels that allow the cat to feel like they are really outdoors. Likewise, the cat will likely feel more comfortable and secure in a place with ledges and perches where they can have a panoramic view of everything around them.
At Cat Topia, we have several shelving options. We offer our basic shelving included in each Catio. We also have more elaborate options like cat bridges, connected shelving, or grass turf shelving. We also have special catio stairs that can help if your cat struggles with a disability. Keep reading below to find out more about your options to customize the Catio for your cat’s or cats’ needs.
Basic shelving
If your cat enjoys climbing, we would recommend our basic shelving which offers 2 to 3 levels of 2 tier shelving on each side of the Catio.

Grass turf shelving
Artificial grass can add a stimulating environment for your cat or cats to play inside of the Catio. We can add this option to some or all of the shelves.

*We would recommend making sure your cat enjoys synthetic turf. You can purchase a small piece before deciding to go with this option.
Catio Shelves with Outdoor Carpet
Outdoor carpet is very beneficial for your kitties. Not only with it protect your shelves further, but it will also give your cats more comfort! Sometimes shelves can get hot due to the sun. Carpet shelves will reduce the heat.

Connected Shelving with Ramps
If your cat needs a bit more support within the Catio, or you’d like to create a playful space for the kitties, we would recommend our connected shelving or ramps.
