This 21 ft wide, 18 ft deep, and 9 ft tall freestanding catio connects to the home through window access and sits directly on an existing surface for a seamless backyard fit.

A split interior wall separates the space into two sections for cats that live in different rooms. Each side has its own window entry, and a door within the divider allows controlled access between sections when needed. The design also incorporates a large existing tree inside the enclosure, creating a natural focal point that adds shade, texture, and climbing opportunities.

The structure is built with pressure-treated lumber and enclosed with 1” x 1” critter fencing for durability and security. A clear corrugated polycarbonate roof provides weather protection while still allowing in natural light.

Inside, shelves and ramps support climbing and movement, with larger 15”–21” shelves included for bigger cats. The tree adds another layer of enrichment, encouraging natural behaviors like climbing and scratching. Two human access doors—one for each section—make cleaning and access simple and efficient.
